Freak or Unique: Hattie Ratall's Story
Freak or Unique Series Book 2
L.E. LaBarge
Hattie is a 'normal’ girl, if there is such a thing. Hattie has a passion for dance, except for one thing, her body. She is the largest girl on her dance team and is acutely aware of how that makes her different. She feels ashamed and worries for her health but cannot seem to stick to a diet, even though her dance teacher says she should.
Hattie knows that she is not the only person in her class that struggles with something. She feels glad that she doesn’t have her best friend Amity’s newly diagnosed condition called Epilepsy. The other girls fear Amity’s condition and treat her differently because of it. Hattie knows she needs to stand up for her best friend, but who stands up for Hattie when the mean girls make fun of her?
Although Hattie sometimes feels like no one understands how much her weight affects her, she will learn to embrace who she is and heal her body image wounds in order to live a happier life.
